Your ticket is live, and it lives in the app
Every ticket for the Diamond Jubilee Heritage Walk is a live QR code inside the Heritage Walk app. It changes every 15 seconds, so nobody can take your place with a photo of your ticket.
Your ticket and the app
Why do I need to install the app?
- Your ticket is safe. At the gate you show a live QR that changes every 15 seconds. A screenshot or photo of a ticket will not get anyone in.
- No data on the day. Once installed, your ticket opens with no data or airtime.
- Help in one tap. Tired, hurt or lost on the road? Need help sends the team your name and where you are.
- Everything for the day. Route, weather, walk-day tips and notices from the organisers.
- No app store, no account. It installs from your browser in a few seconds and takes little space.
How do I install it?
- Open the ticket link from your WhatsApp messageOn iPhone, open it in Safari. On Android, open it in Chrome.
- Tap Install the appAndroid: tap Install. iPhone: tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
- Open Heritage Walk from your home screenYour live ticket appears. On iPhone, tap Paste my ticket the first time.
- Allow location when askedOnly used if you press Need help.
Why does my QR code keep changing?
That is what keeps your place yours. The code is made on your phone from a secret key that is never printed or posted, and it changes every 15 seconds. Gate phones check it on the spot, even with no network. An old code, a screenshot or a photo of a screen is refused.
The moving colours, the ticking clock and the bar under the code show the gate team it is live.
Can I share my ticket on social media?
Yes, please do. In the app, tap Share my ticket. The pictures show your name and the full design, with your phone number hidden. They carry a seal instead of a working code, so they are safe to post: they cannot be used to enter.
What if I have no data on the walk day?
Open your ticket once in the app while you have data, any day before the walk. After that it works with no data or airtime.
I changed or lost my phone. What now?
A ticket works on one phone at a time. Call or WhatsApp the team on +266 6280 6552. They move your ticket to your new phone, then you open your link again.
Can two people use one ticket?
No. One ticket admits one person, and it works on one phone. Each walker needs their own ticket.
I do not have a smartphone.
Tell the team when you register. You get a paper ticket to print. Bring your ID: the gate checks that your name matches.
On the walk
How does Need help work?
- Open the app and tap Need help, then the big red button. You do not need to type anything: your ticket tells us who you are.
- The team gets your name, phone number and where you are, and comes to you.
- Keep the screen open. Your location updates every 30 seconds, and you see when someone is on the way.
- No signal? The app offers to send it as an SMS with your location: SMS works with no data.
- If a life is in danger, also call for medical help straight away.
What happens at the gate?
Open the app, turn your brightness up and show your live QR. The gate scans it, and one scan admits one person. Your ticket then turns green and shows the time you were admitted.
Privacy and payment
What does the app take from my phone?
Nothing. No contacts, no photos, no account. Your location is sent only when you press Need help, and only to the SSM team. You can delete the app any time: press and hold its icon, then Remove or Uninstall.
